I love fireworks. More than that, I love the big civic display held in Wellington harbour every year. Bang, bang, bang. But more than that even, I love the festival atmosphere, the coming together of people, the queues at bus stops. I love the shared fireworks displayed on Mt Victoria before and anter the main event. I love the crowd dynamics that stop traffic as tens of thousands of people leave the waterfront at once. I love the fact that people were tooting friendly toots in the Karori tunnel on the way home.
It is civilisation at it’s best.
Incidentally, this is the 200th post on this blog. I find writing here (and later reading what I have written) to be helpful. I know there are a few of you out there who drag yourselves in here too, so I hope that it continues to be of benefit to all involved.
