Watching TV the other night. (Not that unusual…) Was a fairly uninspiring Prime programme called “A Life of Grime” (or something similar).
Part of the story followed a council worker trying to track down and unblock a blocked sewer drain. By the end of the programme, he has spent three hours searching, had finally managed to track down the blockage, but was standing there, covered head to toe in sewage.
If anyone had a right to complain about there lot in life, I would have thought that smelly, dirty man might. But his words struck like gold:
“I’m well chuffed. There’s five or six families up there that can have some relief tonight. That’s what makes this job worthwhile.”
How is my attitude?
